Mengeham Rythe - Hayling Island, Chichester Harbour 28/29th April 2017
Our first Premier event of our UK World Championship season kicks off at Mengeham so this is the time to dust off the boat, get some water around it and start your build up to the big one nice an early. These events all need our support so please come along regardless of the weather and join in and support the organisers who put a lot of effort into providing these events of us to enjoy. There will be plenty of socialising going and the usual kicking of tyres as new kit for 2017 is unveiled and there will be plenty of discussion going on regarding tuning, boat design and techniques. So don't miss out, come along and find out what's going on.
Roger Kent (GBR274) is the man in charge and has confirmed that we have an exclusive Premier event at Menegham Rythe Sailing Club. They have great facilities and are located on Hayling Island on the south side within Chichester Harbour.
Please contact Roger Kent for those wanting more information - 07850 768995 or
First start on Saturday will be about 1pm, but boats need to launch 30 minutes before to sail to the start in Chichester Harbour. 5 or 6 races in total over both days.
We will be sailing over the top of the tide so plenty of water for Olympic courses.
Camper vans can stay at the club on Friday evening, and Roger will arrange to open the clubhouse if there is sufficient demand – those arriving on Friday should contact Roger 07850 768995 or
so he can open the club.
We will probably arrange a meal at the Ship pub at Langstone on Saturday night.
Sailors are welcome to stay on the bank holiday Monday and join in club racing, but note High Tide is about 3.30, so sailing will be from 1pm to 5pm.
Remember - once boats loaded on their trailers, they can go straight to the second open at Llangdegfed a fortnight later.
Check out the Mengeham Rythe website for further information on how to get there and accommodation options http://www.mengeham.org.uk/index.htm
